How it works

Your browser is the editing suite

Modern browsers ship with the same kind of video and audio engines desktop editors use. ClipLime puts them to work: your file is opened from disk, decoded and re-encoded on your own hardware, and written straight back to your downloads folder.

There is no upload bar because there is no upload. No queue, no cloud storage, nothing to delete afterwards. It also means the speed you get is the speed of your own machine, usually faster than waiting for a big file to crawl up to a server.

Read exactly what happens to your files

0 bytes uploaded

Media never leaves your device. Not even a thumbnail.

Hardware encoding

Uses your GPU's video encoder through WebCodecs where available.

No watermark, ever

No account, no export limits, no paid tier hiding the good stuff.

Nothing to install

No app, no extension, no account. Open a page and the tool is ready.

Good questions

Is ClipLime really free?

Yes. Every tool is free to use, with no watermark, no export limit and no account. Because your own computer does the processing, we don't pay for servers that crunch your files, which is what keeps it free.

Do my files get uploaded anywhere?

No. ClipLime opens your file inside the browser tab and processes it on your device using your browser's built-in video and audio engines. The file never travels to our servers or anyone else's. You can check in your browser's developer tools: while a tool works, the only downloads are the tool's own code, and nothing is uploaded.

How big can my files be?

Files of several gigabytes open fine, because media is read from disk in pieces instead of all at once. The finished file is assembled in memory, though, so the practical limit is your device's RAM: a long 4K export asks more of a phone than of a desktop.

Which browsers work best?

Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox all work. Chrome and Edge currently offer the widest hardware video encoding support, so very large exports are often fastest there.

How do the AI subtitles work without uploading?

The subtitle generator downloads an open speech-recognition model to your browser the first time you use it, then runs it locally, using your graphics card when available. Your audio is never sent anywhere.

Can I use the results commercially?

Yes. What you make with ClipLime is yours. We don't add watermarks, and we don't claim any rights over your files.
